In May of 2014 my mother, Wanda Lynn Carter, a brilliant, caring and beautiful soul, took her own life after decades of battling severe depression and substance abuse. To honor her memory and as a way to say goodbye, I took a portion of her ashes and spread them at 7 beautiful locations throughout the world, one place for each year it had been since we’d seen one another.
Told from my family’s viewpoint, home movies and my journey across the world, it’s a raw and honest portrayal of the pain a family goes through watching the one they love slowly destroy themselves. It’s about grief and how we say goodbye, but most of all it’s about love and the things we choose to carry with us.
